It found its way to us after an unforgettable day of learning about the rug-making process, sharing tea, and enjoying a warm, home-cooked lunch with Naima and her brother, Rachid. As we sat together, their mother’s photograph looked down on us from a ledge, a quiet reminder of the legacy she left behind.
After selecting a few newly made rugs, Naima surprised us with something truly special. She invited us to her home, where she and Rachid carefully laid out this extraordinary vintage rug, woven over 30 years ago by their mother and Rachid, as a young man apprenticing. Seeing the piece unfold before us, knowing the hands that had created it, made it all the more meaningful to us and all the more difficult to let go.
