The Story

Berber Tradition

This Zanafi style rug is a reflection of Berber craftsmanship and cultural heritage, handwoven in a family-owned cooperative, the wool has a slight rugged feel. The Zanafi style is recognized by its graphic patterns, using wool that’s mostly white and black with occasional shades of grey.  It represents generations of artistry, dedication, and the enduring traditions of the High Atlas Mountains.
Once her mother’s apprentice, artisan Fatima now leads the family’s co-op, preserving and passing down these timeless skills. And while Fatima now travels extensively to promote her family’s cooperative, she remains deeply connected to the artisans and their work. Each rug is crafted with care, generational expertise, and a commitment to Berber heritage, ensuring that every piece carries the soul of its maker. The cooperative thrives through this balance of tradition and innovation, allowing weavers to continue their craft while sharing their artistry with the world.
More than just a rug, this distinct Tazenakht treasure is a living piece of Morocco’s weaving legacy. Let its story, warmth, and timeless beauty become a cherished part of your home.
