The Story
Crafted by one of our esteemed partner co-ops in Khenifra, nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, this rug showcases the exceptional skill and artistry of their ten-member collective.
During our visit, we had the honor of meeting six artisans, including artist & Manager Fatima, who generously shared their knowledge and process. Their mastery is evident in the high-quality wool, dense pile, and remarkable craftsmanship, allowing them to create everything from classic Beni Ourain styles to intricate custom and traditional designs. This co-op’s dedication to excellence makes them a standout partner, ensuring every rug is a timeless work of art.
Located in northern central Morocco, surrounded by the Atlas Mountains, the weather in Khenifra ranges from hot and dry in the summer, to cold and wet in the winter. The soft, plush Beni-Ourain style rugs have been perfected over the years to provide cozy comfort in the winter months. As the weather warms, the same rug can be flipped over, revealing the flat weave side for a cooler experience, without sacrificing comfort.
