Live-sheered, hand spun, 100% moroccan wool. Moroccan sheep are known for their fine, thick wool which translates perfectly into soft yet durable rugs.
  • All Natural Dyes

Plants, herbs and spices are used to dye the raw wool. Saffron makes beautiful shades of yellow, blues are extracted from the leaves of indigo plants and green from olive tree leaves. Turmeric, pomegranate skin, walnut shells and henna are all used to make various shades of yellows, reds and browns.
  • Hand-Knotted with Perfect Imperfection

Each one-of-a-kind rug is hand-knotted by master artisans using techniques passed down through generations. One rug can take up to 5 months to complete.

The Story

Handwoven by one of our esteemed partner co-ops in Khenifra, nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, this rug is a testament to the skill and artistry of its ten-member collective.
During our visit, we had the privilege of meeting six of these talented artisans, including artist and manager Fatima, who welcomed us into their creative world. Their expertise shines through in every detail—from the use of high-quality wool to the dense pile and meticulous craftsmanship. This co-op’s versatility allows them to produce everything from classic Beni Ourain rugs to intricate custom and traditional designs, ensuring that each piece is a work of art.
Khenifra, located in northern central Morocco, experiences a climate of extremes—hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. Over generations, artisans have perfected the soft, plush Beni Ourain style to provide warmth in winter while offering a clever solution for warmer months. Simply flip the rug to reveal its flat-woven side for a cooler, breathable feel without sacrificing comfort.
With its rich heritage and thoughtful craftsmanship, this rug is more than a decor piece—it’s a timeless expression of tradition and innovation.
