Handwoven in the remote region of Aït Oumdis, this exquisite Moroccan rug captures the essence of Imazighen weaving traditions. Reaching this co-op was an adventure in itself—traveling along a single lane dirt road carved into the mountainside, we stopped to visit a local beekeeper, donned bee suits, and left with a big dripping piece of fresh honeycomb before continuing our journey, meeting a local shepherd woman tending her herd.
Upon arriving, we were graciously welcomed by Naima and her husband, who shared a delicious home-cooked meal while revealing the story behind their cooperative. Here, artisans like Naima dedicate their craft to creating beautiful, lasting rugs using locally sourced wool and natural dyes. Each piece reflects generations of skill, passed down through the ages.
